Gorgeous and TOP QUALITY rolled leather futurity knot western show headstall bridle with braided rawhide accents and STERLING SILVER OVERLAY! This is an absolutely fantastic headstall. The silver on it is identical to what Harris used on their tack many years ago—same engraving, same design, and made by “IDEM” (or “JDEM”) just as theirs was. I was convinced this headstall was made by Harris due to that and the quality overall, but alas, I did not see their stamp anywhere.
Bit end measurement adjusts between 31” and 42” but please be aware that on the longest settings the crownpiece’s ends do not extend through the keepers—as its shown in the pictures the bit end measurement is 39”. Medium oil. Braided rawhide buttons throughout, some of which have dark brown/black zig zags. Adorned with top quality hand-engraved STERLING SILVER OVERLAY which is marked “Mexico Sterling Overlaid” and “IDEM” (or “JDEM”) on the buckles.
In great vintage condition!! It was obviously taken care of over the years and has broken in beautifully. Mild general wear present, but absolutely nothing abnormal or unexpected. There is a little aged cracking on the throatlatch where it came into contact with the horse’s throat area, but that’s it as far as what is worth pointing out specifically!
