Interscholastic Equestrian Association - IEA
Co-founded in 2002 in Ohio by Roxane Durant, Myron Leff, Wayne Ackerer and Tim Boone, IEA now has a nationwide membership of approximately 14,000 elementary, middle and high school students (grades 4 through 12), their parents, and coaches. A non-profit organization offers its members the opportunity to participate in team and individual equestrian competition in the disciplines of hunt seat, western horsemanship, reining, and dressage, all without the requirement of horse ownership.
The MISSION of the IEA is to introduce students in private and public middle and secondary schools to equestrian sports and to promote and improve the quality of equestrian competition and instruction.
The IEA PURPOSE is to set minimum standards for competition, provide information concerning the creation and development of school associated equestrian sport programs, promote the common interests of safe riding instruction and competition and education on matters related to equestrian sport at the middle and secondary school levels (primarily ages 9 through 19).
