Gorgeous VINTAGE high quality scalloped shaped western browband headstall bridle LOADED WITH SILVER! Stunning vintage headstall, expertly made and of high quality! There is not a maker’s mark as far as I saw. Bit end measurement adjusts between approx. 35” on shortest setting as shorter holes were punched and 43.5” on longest setting. Rich brown in color with slightly contrasting stitching, and the throatlatch is a little darker as it is a (newer) replacement.
Beautifully shaped cheekpieces and browband. Loaded with beautiful rope edge silver accents! Gradient sized silver conchos at each widened point of the cheekpieces, 1.5” domed rosettes on browband’s ends and large 8.75” long bar on browband to match the cut of the leather. You can see in the close-ups that some of the silver pieces have some subtle differences compared to others, as there are a few which have been replaced over the years, but everything is at least a decent match and nicely cohesive for the most part. Some are marked “Mexico” and some are not, and this is likely all high end vintage silver plate or something equivalent.
Vintage headstall shows normal signs of use and age, but is in nice shape for its age overall. Aforementioned replacement throatlatch. There is cosmetic crazing/cracking seen on the leather in several spots, mostly on the cheekpieces between the conchos. The buckle at the poll had a stitched keeper behind it which was trimmed off as it broke. Some of the silver pieces show more patina than others, and on one of the silver rosettes there is wear to the silver plating which has exposed the base metal.
