Abus 72/40 Cutaway Lock Cutout Padlock for Locksport Practice or Display

Description

This is an Abus 72/40 which I have cut away on one side so you can see the internals.
These are intended as a visual aid for locksport or as a collector/display piece.
The lock is fully functional and comes with 2 working keys. This lock's cylinder comes with 6 pin stacks (with 5 spool security driver pins and 1 standard driver pin, as shown).
Note: the Abus 72/40 is a fairly difficult lock to pick (in my opinion) and is not recommended for absolute beginners.
This is the exact lock you will be getting. Please check via the photo of the keys that the bitting on this lock is acceptable for your preference/skill level before purchase.
The cutout is on the left side of the lock body, as viewed from the bottom of the lock with the pins at the top.

Q:  I am brand new to locksport. Is this a good lock for an absolute beginner to pick?
A:  No. The Abus 72/40 is fairly challenging in my opinion, mostly due to the paracentric keyway.
Q:  Why is this cutaway listed as "used?"
A:  eBay considers this a modified item, and has advised me to list my cutaways as "used" even though I purchase them brand new prior to machining them.
Q:  Do cutaways "feel" different to pick than non-cutaway padlocks?
A:  In my opinion, not a lot different. Spool pins may have a deeper false set and may require more pressure to set.
